The Grand Mulberry by Morris Adjmi Architects

The Grand Mulberry, in Morris Adjmi’s trademark style, channels historic architectural elements with contemporary influences to create a distinctive new building that honors the community’s past, present, and future in a vibrant downtown location—where Little Italy, Nolita, and Soho meet. The contextually designed masonry façade, inspired by the historic brick buildings of Nolita and Little Italy, echoes the surrounding traditional neighborhood architecture. An attended lobby with custom marble mosaic floor is detailed with raised Venetian plastered panels, extending the curved motif of the building’s corner. With panoramic views from the Empire State Building to the Freedom Tower, the resident’s landscaped roof terrace features an expansive, inviting communal space with seating and outdoor kitchen. The brand voice embraced the romance and energy of urban living, taking cues from jazz record covers, Italian fashion and art direction that skewed more masculine in developing interior renderings.
